The clock hands are not moving after inserting the battery.
-
Ensure the battery has been inserted with the correct polarity (+ and -). Gently rotate the battery after insertion to confirm it is installed properly.
If using a spare battery, check its expiration date.
Avoid using expired batteries as they may leak or fail to work correctly.
-
When You Suspect a Malfunction
-
If the following issues occur, try replacing the battery:
・The clock has stopped or is running slowly.
・The hands are moving irregularly.
・The hands do not move past around 7 o’clock (or appear stuck or move slowly).
・The clock works when flat, but stops when upright.
※ Note: Rechargeable batteries (1.2V) are not suitable for use in our clocks due to their low voltage.
battery
-
Can I use manganese or alkaline batteries?
-
Yes. Both alkaline and manganese dry batteries (1.5V) are suitable. However, never mix battery types in clocks requiring multiple batteries.
-
Can I use lithium dry batteries with a high initial voltage (1.8V) ?
-
No. Our clocks are not compatible with high-performance lithium batteries that have a high initial voltage. These batteries may cause timekeeping or mechanical issues, so avoid using them.
*Lithium dry batteries (with an initial voltage of 1.8V and a nominal voltage of 1.5V) are typically used in devices requiring a high level of current, such as digital cameras.
-
Can I use rechargeable batteries?
-
No. Rechargeable batteries, such as nickel-metal hydride (1.2V), are not suitable for clocks due to their low voltage.

-
Where can I inquire about repairs?
-
Contact the store where you purchased the clock.
-
What if I can’t access the store ( e.g., I moved away or received the clock as a gift ) ?
-
For international inquiries, contact Lemnos at export@lemnos.jp
For better assistance, kindly include photos or videos of the product and its condition.
radio-controlled_clock
-
What is a radio-controlled clock ?
-
A radio-controlled clock automatically adjusts its time by receiving a standard radio signal that transmits accurate time information.
※ Our radio-controlled clocks are designed for use in Japan and cannot receive signals correctly overseas.
When purchasing Lemnos clocks for international use, ensure in advance that the selected product is not a radio-controlled clock.
To ensure peace of mind for customers residing overseas, all Lemnos radio-controlled clocks exported overseas are modified for international use and are sold through authorized distributors.
Note: Repairs and warranty services for radio-controlled clocks are not covered by authorized distributors when used overseas.
cuckoo_clock
-
The cuckoo is not coming out.
-
Check if the volume switch is set to ON (Normal) or LOW (Low). If set to OFF, the cuckoo will not appear.
The clock is equipped with a light sensor that stops the cuckoo from sounding in dark environments. (Even a small amount of light can activate this sensor.)
-
Sometimes, the cuckoo doesn’t come out or return to the inside of the clock.
-
Replace the battery, as low power may cause this issue. If the issue persists, contact the store where you purchased the clock.
-
The cuckoo moves slowly or doesn’t spread its wings.
-
Replace the battery, as low power may cause this issue.
-
The number of cuckoo calls does not match the time.
-
Press the [ADJUST button] to synchronize the calls with the correct time. Pressing the [ADJUST button] increases the number of calls by one. After 12 calls, it resets to one and continues.
-
The cuckoo’s chimes do not fall on the hour.
-
When setting the time by turning the minute hand (long hand) clockwise, ensure that the hour hand (short hand) is not moved accidentally. If this happens, the time and chime may become misaligned.
If you have moved the hour hand accidentally, contact the store where you purchased the clock.
alarm_clock
-
The alarm sounds at the wrong time.
-
When setting the alarm, always turn the alarm knob in the direction indicated by the arrow. Turning this knob in the opposite direction may affect the accuracy of the alarm.
-
The alarm does not stop ringing.
-
This may indicate a malfunction.
Contact the store where you purchased the clock.
pendulum_clock
-
The pendulum is not moving or swings unevenly.
-
Check whether the clock has been installed correctly and ensure it is hung at the correct angle on the wall. If the clock is not positioned vertically, the pendulum may stop or swing irregularly. → [Instruction Manual Page]

-
What is an open-face clock ?
-
An open-face clock has no protective cover, leaving the hands exposed.
*Please handle the product carefully.
When removing the product from its packaging, ensure the clock hands do not get caught on the bag or protective material. This may cause the hands to bend, detach, or affect the accuracy of the time.
-
The clock hands are not moving properly.
-
Since the clock hands are exposed, they may bend, touch each other, or detach if accidentally touched.
Use the adjustment knob on the back of the clock to align the hands exactly at 12 o’clock. If the hands are touching, they may not move smoothly.
If the issue persists, contact the store where you purchased the clock.
clock_movement
-
What are step and sweep seconds ?
-
These terms refer to the movement type of the second hand.
Step: The second hand moves once per second (basic movement).
Sweep: The second hand moves smoothly, dividing each second into four parts.
-
Do step and sweep seconds sound different ?
-
Yes. Step and sweep movements produce different sounds.
Step: Produces a ticking sound every second.
Sweep: Emits a subtle, continuous sound as the second hand moves in smaller steps.
・The audible sound of the clock may also vary depending on the environment where it is hung.
※ he operational sound produced by the clock assembly may resonate with the frame or wall surface, resulting in differences in perceived volume.
※ Even among identical clock models, individual differences in sound may occur due to various factors. These variations are influenced by multiple factors, including but not limited to the reasons mentioned above.
※ As the internal gears wear down over time, the operational sound may gradually increase in volume.

How should I care for natural wood products (oil-finished products) ?
-
The wooden frames of oil-finished products are coated with plant-based natural oil to enhance the natural texture of the wood.
※“Rigna-F” is an eco-friendly wood preservative made from flaxseed oil and colophonium ester. This material does not contain harmful substances, such as pesticides or preservatives, and it complies with food safety standards set by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. It also meets the formaldehyde emission standard “F☆☆☆☆” for safety.
● For daily maintenance, simply wipe your clock with a dry cloth.
● Avoid spilling oil or liquids, as these can be absorbed by the wood and cause stains.
● To prevent drying, keep the clock out of direct sunlight, heat, or cold air from an air conditioner.
● Do not use chemical cleaning cloths, as they may cause stains or discoloration.
● Since clocks are rarely touched, oil maintenance is unnecessary.
(If you wish to maintain the wood, we recommend using Rigna-F or other plant-based oils.)
-
What is plywood ?
-
Plywood is made by bonding layers of thin wooden sheets together. This material offers superior workability when compared with solid wood and can be shaped into beautiful, soft curves. We use high-quality Shina wood plywood for all of our products.
-
The wood grain on my wooden product differs from the one shown in the photo.
-
Since we use natural solid wood for our frames, the grain pattern can vary between products. Please enjoy these unique characteristics and textures as part of the charm of the natural materials used to craft your clock.
-
There are lines that look like cracks on the bentwood sides.
-
These lines are an essential part of the traditional manufacturing process and are not cracks or defects.
-
There are black spots on the wood edge.
-
These are natural grain patterns in the wood and are not defects. Occasionally, the wood grain may look as though its surface is stained. These are part of the wood’s natural characteristics and should be appreciated as such.

-
The corners chipped when I dropped the clock.
-
All coated products may chip if dropped, hit, or scratched. Please handle the clock carefully to avoid damage.
-
The clock became discolored after being submerged in water.
-
Avoid submerging the product in water or exposing it to fire. These conditions can lead to discoloration or damage.
