Clocks Made Using “PANECO®” Circular Fiber Recycling Board
PANECO CLOCK / designed by Hisae Igarashi
The ‘PANECO CLOCK’ is a sustainable wall clock made from a recyclable fiber board derived from discarded clothing. It embodies a reuse-and-recycle design concept.
Each board, made from waste garments, has slight variations in color and pattern, which means that no two clocks are identical. Additionally, when the clock is no longer in use, it can be collected, returned to raw material form, and reborn as a new clock. Cut using Thomson processing techniques (commonly used for paper and wood), the clock features a minimalistic design that highlights the texture of the material. As both an art piece and a functional object, the clock blends seamlessly into any space while quietly marking the passage of time.

Sustainable Fashion Enrichment
Globally, approximately 92 million tons of fashion waste is generated annually. There are limits to reusing and recycling garments as clothing, and most of this waste is incinerated while still new. “PANECO®” revives the true purpose of fashion—to enrich people’s lives—by beautifully transforming discarded textile fibers, which are often destined for incineration, into recyclable boards, thus returning them to society.

Upcycling Textile Waste and Designing Circular Economies
PANECO® is a sustainable, eco-friendly material that upcycles various textile fibers, including synthetic leather, found in discarded garments. It transforms these fibers into hard, easily processable boards that are suitable for diverse applications. Moreover, PANECO® can be collected and recycled into boards again after use.
Textile fibers that would otherwise be discarded, such as surplus stock, fabric scraps, offcuts, and fiber waste from apparel companies, are repurposed into displays, fixtures, and furniture for stores, events, and offices. This process also enables further recycling.
PANECO® proposes and implements a new circular production model that connects the fashion and interior design industries. By designing beautiful upcycling and circular economies for textile waste, it strives to create a sustainable, zero-waste society.
Building a New Circular Fashion System
PANECO® circular fiber recycling boards are made from discarded clothing and textile scraps collected from apparel companies and production processes. In addition to fabrics, synthetic leathers and other materials are beautifully recycled into durable, easily processable boards.
